TIPS TO PACK THE PRODUCT BEFORE SHIPPING

One thing that all successful online businesses know is that a sales transaction is not complete once the money is collected – it iscomplete when the customer’s package arrives safely in their hands. While many online retailers concentrate on the look of their online store and the process for completing the sale, it is those that employ key ecommerce shipping strategies that will eventually see a bigger boost in sales, repeat customers and profit.

TIPS TO PACK THE PRODUCT BEFORE SHIPPING

Secure packaging is the strategy which is going to help you build a successful shipping business, keep the products safe and attract new partners around the globe. Choose the best packaging products to satisfy the needs of the client and gain the name on the international market.

1. Pick the right box/package

Boxes are the most convenient and suitable way of packing a shipment, as they come in different sizes, shapes, materials and accessories to secure the items inside. Therefore, it is recommended for the seller/shipper to use boxes for regular shipping more often than other methods. From plastic and fabric, to glass and electric items, most types of products can be delivered and shipped in boxes.

Another types of packages are the following:

- paper boxes;

- wooden containers (for heavy and fragile items);

- envelops (are widely available in many sizes, types and materials and they are perfect for delivering documents, paperwork, file folders, compact discs and soft goods);

- tube containers (for any type of rolled-up item);

- metal containers (for big quantities of products, for products of the big sizes).

2. Provide the internal protection

Simply putting your valuable goods in a box or an envelope will not save them from damage. Having sufficient protection around the item is essential, as it will be going on an unpredictable journey till it arrives at its destination.

The materials, commonly used for internal protection, are:

- air-cellular cushioning materials (bubble wrap);

- foam

- crumpled newspaper (for non-fragile items);

- kraft paper (for non-fragile items)

- loosefill styrofoam packing peanuts.

Whichever material you choose, make sure to fill the box entirely. This keeps everything snug and tight. You do not want to leave any extra space for the contents to bounce around. Always assume that your box will be crushed or poked in at least by a few inches. So make sure that when it does, nothing is damaged.

3. Use the qualitative tape

- Use 60 lb (27 kg) grade tape at least three inches (7.62 cm) wide

- Apply three strips to both the top and bottom flaps of the box. For regular slotted containers (RSC), where the flaps meet in the center, apply three strips of tape to both the top and bottom of the box, so the middle and two edge seams are sealed. For corrugated containers where the flaps overlap (FOL), apply three strips of tape to both the top and bottom of the box, so the three edge seams are sealed.
