Brazil’s Industry 4.0: Keeping pace with the next Revolution
The future is developing all around us, and Brazil refuses to be left behind
They’re not called Industrial revolutions for nothing.
The steam engine, electrical power, and computer systems all changed the world when they came into play. Each development proved to be so innovating that, as soon as their use became widespread, society as a whole could never go back.
We now find ourselves on the edge of a fourth industrial revolution, with decentralized digitization ushering in what experts and analysts are referring to as Industry 4.0, but is anyone actually ready for it?
The technology is so new that few people fully understand it, and those that do are still trying to investigate the full potential this new level of technology can be applied to. On top of that, each revolution brought with it a massive redistribution in the workforce, replacing many unskilled jobs with brand new fields that people needed to learn and master if they wanted to stay relevant. We see small examples here and there, with things like automated factories and drone deliveries performing tasks cheaper and more efficiently than human workers could.
There’s no denying this fourth industrial revolution will make some waves in the workforce, which is why countries like Brazil are looking into ways they can ride this wave instead of getting caught in the undertow.
Nearly half of Brazil’s manufacturing sector is investing in technology related to digital initiatives, with the goal that these automated systems will improve production and management alike. These developments have yet to bear fruit, but the research going into it is very promising, and the results are going to require skilled workers to maintain the efficiency of the newly implemented systems.
We here at Export Portal are eager to see Brazil’s progress, and wish them the best of success. We have taken our own steps into the fourth industrial revolution with our personal blockchain system, utilizing the decentralized technology to bring together buyers and sellers in simple and transparent network. All verified parties can see where goods are coming from and where they are going in real time, not to mention who has been handling them, allowing for complete and total accountability every step of the way.
Technology like this may seem advanced and experimental now, but when Industry 4.0 eventually overtakes the world, people will end up wondering how we ever lived without it.
